Banner Finance courses

In order to receive initial access to Banner Finance, you will need to complete a prerequisite course.

In Talent@VCU, the training is named Banner Basic Navigation and System/Data Security. You may self-enroll in this course. You must complete both the online class and quiz. If you have any questions related to this course, please contact HR Learning and Development at learndev@vcu.edu, or call (804) 828-0179.

Steps for Banner Finance access

  1. The employee must complete the required Banner Basic Navigation course (as outlined above).

  2. The employee’s supervisor or fiscal administrator will need to submit a ticket requesting Banner Finance access. The ticket is submitted at itsupport.vcu.edu by selecting the following options:  Accounts & Access → University Administrative Resources → Banner Finance → Request/Modify Account.

  3. Once the ticket is submitted, you will be emailed with instructions regarding the Banner Finance training courses you will need to complete. These are not self-enrollment courses. The security team will enroll you in the required courses. You will have two weeks to complete the training.

  4. Once you have successfully completed the training with 100%, reply to the training email to notify the security team. Once this notification is received, Banner Finance access will be granted.
